Man dies after attack by ‘dangerously out of control dog’ in Stratford

Police were called to Shirley Road at 4.53am on Wednesday (December 4) to reports of the 42-year-old man being seriously wounded.

He was taken to hospital where he later died, a post-mortem will take place in due course and his family has been informed.

Leanne McDonnell, 32, of the same address, was arrested and then charged on Thursday (December 5) with owning a dog dangerously out of control, causing injury resulting in death.

She was also charged with failing to ensure the dog’s welfare and having custody of a fighting dog.

The Metropolitan Police she received another charge with three counts of owning a dog dangerously out of control causing no injury, after a separate incident on November 18.

McDonnell was remanded in custody to appear Barkingside Magistrates’ Court today (December 6).

The dog that was involved in both incidents has been seized by the police.
