Bonfire Night: Five south London fireworks displays

South London’s biggest annual display on Blackheath, one of the few remaining free events, was unfortunately cancelled this year by Lewisham Council due to budget cuts. 

Whilst the famous event, which regularly attracts 100,000 people, will not go ahead, there are a number of alternatives available south of the river.

They are all ticketed, but offer chances to see major displays alongside refreshments and entertainment.

The Battersea Park Fireworks Show

When: November 6-7, 6pm (display at 8pm)

The South London Park will have a two-night special event, with the Saturday being a classic display and the Sunday tailored towards families with an earlier start time.

For the Sunday event, the bonfire will be replaced with a Visual Volcano, an exciting lighting installation.

Tickets for the display are £12.10 per person. Children 0-10 go free.

Musical Fireworks Display – Wimbledon Park

When: November 5-6, 5.15pm (early show) and 7.15pm (late show) 

This explosive musical event will have two displays backed by music and will have an array of food and drink options. Plus the event will have a funfair for everyone to enjoy.

Tickets range from £9.63 to £7.49, with children aged 0-4 given free entry.

Musical Fireworks Display – Morden Park

When: November 6, 5.15pm (early show) and 7.15pm (late show)

Similar to the event in Wimbledon, this even will also be backed by music.

Tickets are £9 adults, £7 juniors (aged 5-15). Kids aged 4 and under go free. A £30 family ticket can be purchased for two adults, two juniors.

Beckenham Fireworks in the Park – Croydon Road Recreation Ground

When: November 6, 6.30-9pm

The organised fireworks display with funfair and food returns, offer drink and other concessions. There will be including an early quieter display, followed by a main display.

Tickets are £10 adults, £5 kids (aged 11-18), under 11s go free. Families can purchase a £20 ticket for two adults and two kids, or one adult and three kids.

Richmond – Richmond Athletic Club

When: November 7, 7pm

Richmond annual fireworks display returns, this year themed around fire. Gates open open at 4.30pm, giving access to the funfair and stalls.

An array of food will be on offer, from hamburgers through to crepes, mulled wine, tea, coffee and a fully licensed bar.

Tickets are £10 adults, £6 kids (aged 5-15). Kids under five go free.
